Description
SP3/4 Transcription Factor Activity Assay
The SP3/4 Transcription Factor Activity Assay Kit is a convenient and reliable tool for measuring the activity of SP3 and SP4 transcription factors in cell lysates and nuclear extracts. This kit utilizes a specific and sensitive assay method to accurately quantify the transcriptional activity of SP3 and SP4, allowing researchers to investigate their role in gene regulation and cellular processes.SP3 and SP4 transcription factors are key regulators of gene expression, influencing various biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of SP3 and SP4 activity has been implicated in cancer, developmental disorders, and neurological diseases, highlighting the importance of studying these transcription factors in research.
With its easy-to-use format and robust performance, the SP3/4 Transcription Factor Activity Assay Kit is ideal for researchers interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying gene expression and exploring potential therapeutic targets. This kit offers a high level of sensitivity and specificity, ensuring accurate and reproducible results for a wide range of experimental applications.

UniProt Protein Function: | Transcriptional factor that can act as an activator or repressor depending on isoform and/or post-translational modifications. Binds to GT and GC boxes promoter elements. Competes with SP1 for the GC-box promoters. Weak activator of transcription but can activate a number of genes involved in different processes such as cell-cycle regulation, hormone-induction and house-keeping. |
NCBI Summary: | This gene belongs to a family of Sp1 related genes that encode transcription factors that regulate transcription by binding to consensus GC- and GT-box regulatory elements in target genes. This protein contains a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and several transactivation domains, and has been reported to function as a bifunctional transcription factor that either stimulates or represses the transcription of numerous genes. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene, and one has been reported to initiate translation from a non-AUG (AUA) start codon. Additional isoforms, resulting from the use of alternate downstream translation initiation sites, have also been noted. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 13.
