The Rat SERT (Serotonin Transporter) ELISA Kit is specifically designed for the precise measurement of serotonin transporter levels in rat serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. With its high sensitivity and specificity, this kit ensures accurate and consistent results, making it perfect for various research applications in the field of neuroscience. The serotonin transporter, also known as SERT, is a key protein involved in the regulation of serotonin levels in the brain. Imbalances in serotonin transport have been linked to various mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and mood disorders.
By measuring SERT levels, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially develop new therapies.Overall, the Rat SERT ELISA Kit offers a reliable and efficient tool for studying serotonin transporter function and its role in neuropsychiatric disorders, providing valuable information for both basic research and drug development efforts.

This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat SERT. Standards or samples are added to the micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Rat SERT and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Rat SERT, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Rat SERT. You can calculate the concentration of Rat SERT in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
