The Rat CD8a Monoclonal Antibody (FITC Conjugated) - Ox-8 (AG1264) offered by AssayGenie is a powerful tool designed for research involving CD8a, a crucial cell surface marker associated with cytotoxic T cells. This monoclonal antibody, specialized for use in flow cytometry applications, is derived from rats and exhibits high specificity and sensitivity in detecting CD8a expression in rat samples.CD8a, also known as cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 2 (CTLA-2), plays a vital role in immune responses by identifying foreign antigens and promoting the destruction of infected or abnormal cells. By targeting CD8a, researchers can gain insights into the functioning of cytotoxic T cells and their involvement in immune surveillance, antiviral responses, and anti-tumor immunity.
With its FITC conjugation, this antibody allows for fluorescent detection of CD8a-expressing cells, facilitating precise identification and quantification in flow cytometry experiments. Its reliable performance and accurate results make it an ideal choice for studies focusing on immune cell characterization, immunology, and vaccine development in a rat model system. The Rat CD8a Monoclonal Antibody (FITC Conjugated) - Ox-8 (AG1264) from AssayGenie provides researchers with a valuable tool to explore the role of CD8a in immune function and disease pathogenesis, ultimately contributing to advancements in immunotherapy, immune-mediated disorders, and infectious disease research.
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by flow cytometric analysis. Please check your vial before the experiment. Since applications vary, the appropriate dilutions must be determined for individual use. We suggest each investigator should titrate the reagent to obtain optimal results [The recommended concentration is 0.1-1 μg/106 cells in 100 μL volume].

Background:
CD8a is a 32 kD glycoprotein also known as T8, Lyt2, Ly-2, and CD8α. CD8a is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed on most thymocytes, subset of mature T cells, most NK cells, macrophages, and some activated CD4+ T cells (not resting). CD8a forms heterodimers with the CD8β chain (CD8b) on the surface of most thymocytes, while mature peripheral T lymphocytes express almost exclusively the CD8 αβ heterodimer. Intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes express CD8a without CD8b. CD8 is an antigen co-receptor on T cells that interacts with MHC class I on antigen-presenting cells or epithelial cells. CD8 participates in T cell activation through its association with the T cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase lck (p56lck).
