The Mouse F4/80 Monoclonal Antibody (PerCP-Cyanine5.5 Conjugated, CI:A3-1, AGEL0573) offered by Assay Genie is a highly specific antibody designed for research involving the F4/80 protein, a well-established marker for mouse macrophages. This antibody, a monoclonal antibody raised against mouse cells, is conjugated with PerCP-Cyanine5.5 for easy detection and analysis.F4/80 is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of mature macrophages, making it a valuable marker for studies related to macrophage identification and characterization. By specifically binding to the F4/80 protein, this antibody enables the precise detection and analysis of macrophages in various tissues and experimental settings.
Understanding the role of macrophages in immune responses, inflammation, and disease processes is essential for advancing research in immunology, cancer biology, and various other fields. The Mouse F4/80 Monoclonal Antibody provided by Assay Genie offers researchers a reliable tool for investigating the presence and function of macrophages in different biological contexts. Its high specificity and conjugation with PerCP-Cyanine5.5 make it a valuable asset for studies aiming to elucidate the complex roles of macrophages in health and disease.

Background:
F4/80 is a 160 kD glycoprotein. It is characterized as a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-transmembrane 7 (TM7) family. F4/80, also known as EMR1 or Ly71, has been widely used as a murine macrophage marker, which is expressed on the majority of tissue macrophages including peritoneal macrophages, macrophages in lung, gut, thymus and red pulp of spleen (but not on the macrophages located in T cell areas of the spleen, lymph node and Peyer's patch), Kuffer cells, Langerhans cells, and bone marrow stromal cells. F4/80 has also been shown on a subset of dendritic cells. The biological ligand of F4/80 has not been identified, but it has been reported that F4/80 is required for induction of CD8+ T cells-mediated peripheral tolerance.
