C-Reactive Protein or CRP, is a protein, part of the pentraxin superfamily. Among the protein’s activities, CRP can promote agglutination, swelling of the bacteria capsule, phagocytosis etc. this protein can also cause complement fixation via a calcium-dependent binding to the molecule phosphorylcholine.
CRP Mouse Recombinant produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 214 amino acids (20-225 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 24.1 kDa.CRP is fused to a 8 amino acid His-tag at C-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | CRP: Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Belongs to the pentaxin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
