The Mouse CD71 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) R17-217.1.3 (TIB-219) (AGEL0339) is a specialized antibody developed for research applications involving CD71, a cell surface marker associated with iron metabolism and cell proliferation. This biotin-conjugated antibody, derived from a mouse source, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting CD71 in mouse samples, particularly in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry experiments.CD71, also known as Transferrin Receptor Protein 1, plays a crucial role in cellular iron uptake, making it essential for processes like erythropoiesis and cell growth. Its expression levels are often elevated in rapidly dividing cells, making it a valuable marker for studying cell cycle progression, proliferation, and iron metabolism.
Researchers in fields such as hematopoiesis, oncology, and developmental biology can benefit from utilizing this antibody to explore the functions and regulation of CD71 in various biological contexts. The ability of the Mouse CD71 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) to specifically target and detect CD71 in mouse samples provides researchers with a powerful tool for delving into the roles and mechanisms of this important cell surface protein. By enabling precise and reliable detection of CD71, this antibody facilitates detailed analysis and characterization of cell populations expressing this marker, opening up avenues for deeper insights into processes related to iron homeostasis, cell proliferation, and disease pathogenesis.

Background:
CD71 is a 95 kD type II heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein that is also known as T9 and transferrin receptor. CD71 is expressed on proliferating cells, reticulocytes, and erythroid precursors. Its expression is very low on resting leukocytes. CD71 plays a role in the control of cellular proliferation by facilitating the uptake of iron via ferrotransferrin binding and the recycling of apotransferrin to the cell surface.
