The Mouse CD49b Monoclonal Antibody (PE Conjugated, DX5-Agel0438) available on www.assaygenie.com is a specialized tool designed for researchers studying CD49b, a cell surface molecule often associated with natural killer cells in the immune system. This monoclonal antibody, conjugated with PE for easy visualization in flow cytometry experiments, binds specifically to CD49b, allowing for precise detection and analysis in various cell populations.CD49b, also known as DX5, is a marker commonly used to identify and characterize natural killer cells, a type of immune cell crucial for recognizing and eliminating infected or abnormal cells in the body. By targeting CD49b, researchers can gain insights into the function and behavior of natural killer cells in different biological contexts, such as immune responses to pathogens, tumors, or autoimmune conditions.
This PE-conjugated antibody ensures high sensitivity and specificity in detecting CD49b expression, making it a valuable tool for immunologists, cell biologists, and researchers working on immune-related projects. Its suitability for flow cytometry applications allows for precise quantification and sorting of CD49b-positive cells, facilitating in-depth studies on the role of natural killer cells in immunity and disease.Overall, the Mouse CD49b Monoclonal Antibody (PE Conjugated, DX5-Agel0438) offers a reliable and efficient solution for investigating CD49b-positive cell populations, advancing research efforts in immunology, cancer biology, and various other fields related to immune system function and regulation.

Background:
DX5 antigen has been recently characterized as CD49b. It is a 150 kD integrin α chain also known as α2 integrin, VLA-2 α chain, and integrin α2 chain. CD49b non-covalently associates with CD29 (β1 integrin) to form the CD49b/CD29 complex known as VLA-2, a receptor for collagen and laminin. CD49b is expressed on platelets, the majority of NK cells, NKT cells, and a small subset of CD8+ T cells (this population can be significantly increased following viral infection). DX5 is used for the identification and isolation of NK cells, and is especially useful for identifying NK cells in mice lacking the NK1.1 antigen.
