The Mouse CD279 (PD-1) Monoclonal Antibody (APC-conjugated, 29F.1A12) offered by AssayGenie (Product code: AGEL1629) is a potent tool for research involving the PD-1 protein, a key immune checkpoint receptor known for its role in immune regulation and tolerance. This monoclonal antibody, derived from mice, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards mouse samples, enabling precise detection and analysis in various experimental settings, particularly in flow cytometry applications.PD-1, also referred to as Programmed Cell Death Protein 1, is a crucial regulator of T cell activation and immune responses. By interacting with its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, PD-1 plays a pivotal role in maintaining peripheral tolerance and preventing autoimmunity, but can also be exploited by tumors to evade immune surveillance.
Research on PD-1 has led to groundbreaking immunotherapies that enhance antitumor immune responses and improve clinical outcomes in cancer patients. With its ability to specifically target PD-1, the Mouse CD279 Monoclonal Antibody enables scientists to investigate the expression, function, and signaling pathways associated with this checkpoint molecule. This antibody is an invaluable resource for studies focused on understanding the mechanisms of immune regulation, immunotherapy development, and immune escape mechanisms employed by cancer cells. Researchers can leverage the power of this antibody to unravel the complexities of immune checkpoints and propel advancements in cancer immunology research.

Background:
CD279, also known as programmed death-1 (PD-1), is a 50-55 kD glycoprotein belonging to the CD28 family of the Ig superfamily. PD-1 is expressed on activated splenic T and B cells and thymocytes. It is induced on activated myeloid cells as well. PD-1 is involved in lymphocyte clonal selection and peripheral tolerance through binding its ligands, B7-H1 (PD-L1) and B7-DC (PD-L2). It has been reported that PD-1 and PD-L1 interactions are critical to positive selection and play a role in shaping the T cell repertoire. PD-L1 negative costimulation is essential for prolonged survival of intratesticular islet allografts.
