The Mouse CD14 Monoclonal Antibody PE-Conjugated (SA14-2) is a vital tool for researchers studying immune responses and inflammatory processes in mouse models. This antibody specifically targets CD14, a key protein involved in the recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and activation of innate immune responses.CD14 is predominantly expressed on the surface of macrophages and monocytes, where it plays a crucial role in the recognition and clearance of bacterial components such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS). By binding to CD14, this monoclonal antibody enables the detection and analysis of CD14-expressing cells in various tissues and biological samples.
Utilizing this PE-conjugated antibody in flow cytometry or immunofluorescence assays allows for precise identification and quantification of CD14-positive cell populations, aiding in the study of immune system activation, infection, and inflammation in mouse models. Researchers can further investigate the roles of CD14 in diseases such as sepsis, atherosclerosis, and other inflammatory conditions, potentially leading to the development of targeted therapies and treatment strategies.

Background:
CD14 is a 53-55 kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked membrane glycoprotein also known as LPS receptor. CD14 is expressed on macrophages, dendritic cells, Kupffer cells, hepatocytes, and granulocytes. As a high-affinity receptor for LPS-LBP (LPS-binding protein) complex, CD14, in association with Toll-like Receptor 4 (TLR4) or 2 (TLR2), is involved in the clearance of gram-negative pathogens.
