Tumor Protein P53 Regulated Apoptosis Inducing Protein 1 (TP53AIP1) is expressed mainly in the thymus, and is localized to the mitochondrion. p53 induces TP53AIP1 production which then mediates p53- dependent apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding diverse isoforms are known for TP53AIP1.
TP53AIP1 Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 144 amino acids (1-124) and having a molecular mass of 15kDa.TP53AIP1 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | p53AIP1: May play an important role in mediating p53/TP53- dependent apoptosis. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Mitochondrial; Apoptosis Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q24 Cellular Component: mitochondrion Biological Process: apoptosis |
NCBI Summary: | This gene is specifically expressed in the thymus, and encodes a protein that is localized to the mitochondrion. The expression of this gene is inducible by p53, and it is thought to play an important role in mediating p53-dependent apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011] |
