Secretoglobin Family 3A Member 2 (SCGB3A2) is a secreted lung surfactant protein and a downstream target of thyroid transcription factor. A single nucleotide polymorphism in the promoter of the SCGB3A2 gene results in susceptibility to asthma.
SCGB3A2 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a non-glycosylated homodimer containing a total of 157 (2xPhe22-Val93) amino acids including a 6 aa linker and 6 aa His tag at C-terminus. The total calculated molecular mass is 17.1kDa.
| UniProt Protein Function: | Secreted cytokine-like protein (PubMed:12847263). Binds to the scavenger receptor MARCO (PubMed:12847263). Can also bind to pathogens including the Gram-positive bacterium L.monocytogenes, the Gram-negative bacterium P.aeruginosa, and yeast (PubMed:12847263). Strongly inhibits phospholipase A2 (PLA2G1B) activity (PubMed:24213919). Seems to have anti-inflammatory effects in respiratory epithelium. Also has anti-fibrotic activity in lung (PubMed:24213919).
