Citrate synthase also known as CS is a Krebs tricarboxylic acid cycleenzyme which catalyzes the synthesis of citrate from oxaloacetate and acetylcoenzyme A. CS is present in almost all cells capable of oxidative metabolism.CS is nuclear encoded and transported into the mitochondrial matrix, where themature form is found. The diseases related to CS are: critical illnesspolyneuropathy and mitochondrial cardiomyopathy.
CS Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 462 amino acids (28-466 a.a) andhaving a molecular mass of 51.4kDa.CS is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | CS: a mitochondrial enzyme of the tricarboxylic acid cycle that converts acetyl-CoA + H2O + oxaloacetate into citrate + CoA. Found in nearly all cells capable of oxidative metabolism. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:EC 2.3.3.1; Mitochondrial; Carbohydrate Metabolism - glyoxylate and dicarboxylate; Carbohydrate Metabolism - citrate (TCA) cycle; Transferase Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.2 Cellular Component: mitochondrion; mitochondrial matrix; nucleus Molecular Function:citrate (Si)-synthase activity Biological Process: cellular metabolic process; tricarboxylic acid cycle; carbohydrate metabolic process; cellular carbohydrate metabolic process |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a Krebs tricarboxylic acid cycle enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of citrate from oxaloacetate and acetyl coenzyme A. The enzyme is found in nearly all cells capable of oxidative metablism. This protein is nuclear encoded and transported into the mitochondrial matrix, where the mature form is found.
