C-type lectin domain family 2, also referred to CLEC2D, is a receptor for KLRB1 which protects target cells against natural killer cell-mediated lysis. It has been shown that CLEC2Dinhibits osteoclast formation and bone resorption. The protein controls the release of interferon-gamma and contains a transmembrane domain near the N-terminus likewisethe C-type lectin-like extracellular domain.
CLEC2D Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 155 amino acids (60-191 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 17.7 kDa. CLEC2D is fused to a 23 amino acid His tag at N-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | CLEC2D: Receptor for KLRB1 that protects target cells against natural killer cell-mediated lysis. Inhibits osteoclast formation. Inhibits bone resorption. Modulates the release of interferon- gamma. Binds high molecular weight sulfated glycosaminoglycans. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Membrane protein, integral Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13 Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to plasma membrane Molecular Function:transmembrane receptor activity; carbohydrate binding Biological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction |
NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the natural killer cell receptor C-type lectin family. The encoded protein inhibits osteoclast formation and contains a transmembrane domain near the N-terminus as well as the C-type lectin-like extracellular domain. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010] |
