The Human CD57 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) - HNK-1 (AGEL0267) is a specialized reagent designed for research involving CD57, a cell surface marker associated with natural killer cells and other immune cell subsets. This antibody, produced using monoclonal technology, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for human CD57 samples, making it a valuable tool for immunology and oncology studies.CD57, also known as HNK-1 (human natural killer-1) antigen, serves as a marker for a subset of natural killer cells and other immune cell populations involved in immune responses and surveillance. By targeting CD57, researchers can analyze and identify these specific cell populations in various biological samples, enabling detailed investigations into immune function and cell-mediated immune responses. The biotin conjugation of this monoclonal antibody allows for versatile detection and analysis methods, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and other immunological assays.
Its application extends to studies exploring immune cell characteristics, biomarker expression in cancer research, and immune cell profiling in diseases such as autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases.Overall, the Human CD57 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) - HNK-1 (AGEL0267) serves as a critical tool for researchers investigating immune cell subsets, natural killer cell activity, and immune responses in health and disease contexts. Its specificity and versatility make it an essential component for advancing our understanding of immune system functionality and its implications in various pathological conditions.

Background:
CD57, also known as HNK-1, NK-1, and Leu-7 is a 100-115 kD oligosaccharide antigenic determinant expressed on a variety of proteins, lipids, and chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans. CD57 is expressed on a subset of peripheral blood lymphocytes, including NK cells and CD8+ T cells, and is also expressed on neural cells and striated muscle. CD57 is not expressed on red blood cells, granulocytes, monocytes, or platelets. While the function of CD57 is unknown, binding to L-selectin, P-selectin, and a fragment of laminin suggests that CD57 may be involved in cell-matrix interactions. CD57 is increased in some disease states associated with CD4/CD8 imbalances (AIDS, autoimmune disease, viral infections, and allograft transplants).
