CD38 is a surface molecule which acts as a plasma membrane signaling receptorin leukocytes. Furthermore, CD38 functionsas signaling channel which leads to to cellular activation and proliferation. CD38 also plays a role as an ectoenzyme with variousfunctions as well as an inducer of Ca2+ mobilization from cytoplasmic stores. CD38 signals acts as a coreceptor on B cells andmodulates B cell receptor.
CD38 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 269 amino acids (43-300 a.a.) andhaving a molecular mass of 31.2kDa (Migrates at 28-40kDa on SDS-PAGE underreducing conditions).CD38 is expressed with a 6 amino acid His tag atC-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | CD38: Synthesizes cyclic ADP-ribose, a second messenger for glucose-induced insulin secretion. Also has cADPr hydrolase activity. Also moonlights as a receptor in cells of the immune system. Belongs to the ADP-ribosyl cyclase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
