Beta-1,3-N-Acetylglucosaminyltransferase2 (B3GNT2) is a part of the beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase familywhich takes part in the synthesis of poly-N-acetyllactosamine. B3GNT2 is a type II transmembrane proteinwhich prefers the substrate of lacto-N-neotetraose. B3GNT2 catalyzes theinitiation and elongation of poly-N-acetyllactosamine chains and comprises themain polylactosamine synthase.
B3GNT2 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 375 amino acids (29-397a.a.) and havinga molecular mass of 43.5kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear atapproximately 40-57kDa).B3GNT2 is expressed with a 6 amino acid His tag atC-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | B3GNT2: Catalyzes the initiation and elongation of poly-N- acetyllactosamine chains. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 31 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase family. This enzyme is a type II transmembrane protein. It prefers the substrate of lacto-N-neotetraose, and is involved in the biosynthesis of poly-N-acetyllactosamine chains. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016] |
