Amine Oxidase Copper Containing 3 , also referred to AOC3, a copper amine oxidase with a topaquinone cofactor.AOC3 is a cell adhesion protein which participates in recirculation & extravasation of lymphocyte by mediating the binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node vascular endothelial cells in an L-selectin independent fashion.Amine Oxidase Copper Containing 3 acts in adipogenesis. The protein catalyzes the oxidative deamination of small primary amines such as methylamine, benzylamine & aminoacetone in a reaction that produces an aldehyde, ammonia and H2O2.
AOC3 Human produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 746 amino acids (27-763 aa) and having a molecular mass of 82.8kDa.AOC3 is fused to a 9 amino acid His tag at C-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | AOC3: Cell adhesion protein that participates in lymphocyte recirculation by mediating the binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node vascular endothelial cells in an L-selectin- independent fashion. Has a monoamine oxidase activity. May play a role in adipogenesis. Belongs to the copper/topaquinone oxidase family. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase family. Copper amine oxidases catalyze the oxidative conversion of amines to aldehydes in the presence of copper and quinone cofactor. The encoded protein is localized to the cell surface, has adhesive properties as well as monoamine oxidase activity, and may be involved in leukocyte trafficking. Alterations in levels of the encoded protein may be associated with many diseases, including diabetes mellitus. A pseudogene of this gene has been described and is located approximately 9-kb downstream on the same chromosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
