| UniProt Protein Function: | CIP2A: an oncoprotein that inhibits PP2A in human malignancies. Like the SV40 small t antigen, inhibits the phospho-serine/-threonine phosphatase PP2A. Promotes c-Myc protein stability by inhibiting the dephosphorylation of phospho-serine 62. Expressed at low levels in most of nonmalignant tissues but at high levels in human malignancies including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), colon cancer, and liver cancer. Antibodies against CIP2A are present in sera from many patients with gastric or prostate cancer. Two alternatively spliced human isoforms have been described. |
