UniProt Protein Function: | INTS6: Component of the Integrator complex, a complex involved in the small nuclear RNAs (snRNA) U1 and U2 transcription and in their 3'-box-dependent processing. The Integrator complex is associated with the C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II largest subunit (POLR2A) and is recruited to the U1 and U2 snRNAs genes. May have a tumor suppressor role; an ectopic expression suppressing tumor cell growth. Belongs to the Integrator subunit 6 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:RNA processing; Receptor, misc. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q14.3 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; integrator complex; actin cytoskeleton Molecular Function:protein binding; transmembrane receptor activity Biological Process: snRNA processing; signal transduction |
NCBI Summary: | DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. The protein encoded by this gene is a DEAD box protein that is part of a complex that interacts with the C-terminus of RNA polymerase II and is involved in 3' end processing of snRNAs. In addition, this gene is a candidate tumor suppressor and located in the critical region of loss of heterozygosity (LOH). Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
