UniProt Protein Function: | Erbin: Acts as an adapter for the receptor ERBB2, in epithelia. By binding the unphosphorylated 'Tyr-1248' of receptor ERBB2, it may contribute to stabilize this unphosphorylated state. Belongs to the LAP (LRR and PDZ) protein family. 7 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Cell adhesion Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q12.3 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nuclear membrane; hemidesmosome; cytoplasm; basal plasma membrane; plasma membrane; basement membrane; cell junction; nucleus Molecular Function:integrin binding; ErbB-2 class receptor binding; protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton Biological Process: integrin-mediated signaling pathway; establishment and/or maintenance of epithelial cell polarity; epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; basal protein localization; intermediate filament cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; cell adhesion; cell growth; signal transduction; cell cycle; protein targeting |
NCBI Summary: | This gene is a member of the leucine-rich repeat and PDZ domain (LAP) family. The encoded protein contains 17 leucine-rich repeats and one PDZ domain. It binds to the unphosphorylated form of the ERBB2 protein and regulates ERBB2 function and localization. It has also been shown to affect the Ras signaling pathway by disrupting Ras-Raf interaction. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011] |
