Background: |
UniProt Protein Function: | TIAM1: modulates the activity of RHO-like proteins and connects extracellular signals to cytoskeletal activities. Acts as a GDP- dissociation stimulator protein that stimulates the GDP-GTP exchange activity of RHO-like GTPases and activates them. Activates RAC1, CDC42, and to a lesser extent RHOA. Regulates migration, cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion by modulating the actin cytoskeleton through the GTPase, Rac1. Binding to Rac1 and the Arp2/3 complex may drive actin polymerization at specific sites, thus inducing dynamic morphological changes. |
